  1. What was the most difficult assessment item you completed in COIS20025 this term (not counting the examination which is not until the examination period)?

  Ans  According to me the way of teaching the course of COIS20025 was really good.Their was not any big difficulties for me but i faced some problem in understanding DFDs in assignment1.So only this thing was difficult to do for me.The rest of the things were very easy

Que 2 What was difficult about it and how would you suggest it could be improved?

Ans  The diificult things in it was to understand the flow data and the things really become complex while solving the practical problems.So this thing can beimproved by making students learn the DFDs that are practical.In the class and tutor only practical DFDs sholuld be taught.Like a case study should be taken in class and according to that case study make the students know the procedure of how data flows

3. Name three (3) things you learnt this term in COIS20025.

Ans  The three things that i learnt in this course are:

1.DFDs

2. ERDs

3.Normalization

4.How will you be able to use this knowledge/these skills in your future career?

Ans : As i am planning my future in IT and wants to become a software engineeer the knowledge of these skills will really help me.For the programmer these things are very essential and i will use this knowledge for making reports,making analyst.These things will also help me in working as a team member.With the above knowledge i can work as a analyst also.

At the end i would like to say that i realy enjoyed the course of COIS20025 and learnt many things from it.

Maintenance tasks:

Maintenance task includes changing programs, procedures, or documentation to ensure correct system execution:

There are four types of maintenance tasks could be introduced:

-Corrective maintenance-Adaptive maintenance -Perfective maintenance-Preventive maintenance

The following description is showing that how this maintenance system will be useful…..

1) Corrective maintenance:

Corrective maintenance system is finding and correcting errors in an operational system. This maintenance system is often needed to resolve the issues created by previous maintenance changes. Most of the organisations are having standard procedure to correct the minor errors. In this maintenance system, team is designs, tests, and documents and implement the solutions. Corrective maintenance system useful for the Capricornia car pool system to make the data error free which entered by the clerk and by using this system we can remove the problem of data inconsistency. System is first of all checking and verifying the data because it won’t cause any problem which can affect to the system.

2) Adaptive Maintenance:

Adaptive maintenance adds enhancements to an operational system and makes the system easier to use. Here, Enhancement stands for the capability. Adaptive maintenance is useful for those kinds of businesses who do diversification in the production or in the services or in the whole business.This system can help to the Capricornia car pool system if the firm wants to change system of booking the car or maintaining the data efficiently to eliminate the human errors. Current system can implement the whole system to make the business functions and transactions powerful.The main limitation of this system is that it is more difficult than development of the new system because enhancement must work within the constraints of an existing system.

3) Perfective maintenance:

Perfective maintenance involves changing in the operational system to make it more precise, reliable, or maintainable. In fact this request is initiating by the IT department, while the request for the corrective and Adaptive maintenance is raised by the end users. The tasks of this system are to restore the system performance. By implementing this system Capricornia car pool system can improve the efficient use of the information system and make the system reliable. Perfective maintenance is providing the flexibility for the firm to use the proper IT tools and offer the system to the users to book the cars, and users or customers can rely on the performance and process of the company.

4) Preventive maintenance:

Preventive maintenance system is doing the task to secure the current operational system by protecting it from the future problems. By using this system company can expect more satisfaction from the users or the customers. Capricornia car pool system has to implement such system so that if there is any problem in the system then it can immediately find the solution.Suppose, customer is trying to use the registration system to book the car but he or she is not able to do that because of some problem, as soon as firm finds such kind of errors it has to fix up that problem as quick as possible and also make steps more secure so that in the future firm will not have to face any inconsistency in operational system.

      The blog for this week is to discuss the four systems Changeover Method from the textbook. It may be useful in changing the manual operations of Capricornia Car Pool System and implementing the new system. The blog also describes the benefits and problems related with each approach. The four Changeover Methods are:-

 *        Phased Operation:-

      When the changeover from the old system to the new system is done in parts over a period of time slowly and steadily it is called Phased Operation Changeover System. This changeover method allows implementing the new system in stage. It is one of the least risky way because it only implements the new system by parts and if any thing goes wrong with the new system only those places or system are affected on which the new system was implemented. It is also less expensive. So it is useful to the Capricornia Car Pool System. Implementing only part of the system reduces risk. The developers can be more familiar with carpool system and their requirements.

*         Pilot Operations:

       Pilot Operation is a combination of parallel operation and direct cutover method. In this kind of change method the new system is implemented in an organization in a specific location and the old method is still running in those locations where the organization has it operation. This system is less risky and less costly. It is an ideal option for the implementation for the new car pool system in CQU as it would be able to review the new system for some

*      Direct Cutover:        The Direct Cutover method is such a very quick way of implementing a new information system and it is the cheapest in terms of minimizing duplication. It is also easy to manage and it may be easy to roll back to the manual system if there are problems while the technology based system is introduced. It is also easy to manage with the Capricornia Car Pool System as it had been working on manual system earlier, so it would not be difficult to implement and then maintain the new system.      Even though this system has some disadvantages like failure and high risk because there are no backups are taken while implanting such a method.  *    Parallel Operation:-        In this method both the old and new system will operate at the same time to check the complexities of new system. This system has lower risk, easer to verify and it requires duplication of each task. The major drawback of implementing this system is that it is very expensive. The other is that it requires more manpower to manage. If we follow this system for Capricornia car pool system we will need more staff ant it will be costly for the university. time in one campus and if they find it useful they can implement it thought the CQU.

Web Discussion Forum

The purpose of this post is to identify a potential innovation useful for learning and teaching strategies. This innovation is: :One of the purposes of educational institutions is to make an efficient connection among people who want to teach, and the world of information and ideas.Electronic discussion forums provide a time-of-convenience and place-of-convenience prospect for student to get in touch with both of student and instructor. Discussion forums on the World Wide Web (WWW) are a common area for sharing opinions, solutions etc.Web-based discussion forums are built by partaking. It starts as a blank page, in that people submit questions and supply solutions, give opinions. There are few examples which suggest how discussion forums are useful in learning and teaching method:1st learning is the method of understanding something through experiences. Students can interpret and analyse others’ writings, reveal their knowledge and readings. 2nd students ask question and also try to find out answers for themselves. With the use of Discussion forums students develop as an active participants in discussing topics presented in class and in bringing to the group additional information sources. Asynchronous participation allows students time to reflect and carefully construct their points-of-view. Additionally, via anonymous submissions, students can openly question the content delivered in textbooks and class lectures instead of holding back their thoughts. Perhaps most important is the students’ ability through WWW to ask questions, share ideas, and present opinion at the time of study, instead of having to wait hours or days until the next scheduled class meeting time or next available office hour.3rd in the communities of practice approach, the ability to contribute to a community creates the potential for learning (On Purpose Associates, 1996b). Evaluations of discussion forums by students and instructors often mention the feeling of comradeship and community, the satisfaction of contributing information to the group, and the sense of team sharing as positive features.Finally Higher-order learning skills include effective communication, ability to interact effectively, and critical thinking. Since writing is the primary means of communications in discussion forums, students must practice formulating points-of-view and presenting facts and opinion clearly. Participants interact by interpreting, evaluating, and critiquing peers’ comments and by sharing information; the practice of group knowledge building. In addition, a forum can be designed to promote critical thinking by presenting effective strategies as major topics for comment. Discussion forums will be used by participants when it becomes a valuable information resource and an effective communications tool for linking students to instructors, students to students, and instructors to instructors. In this light, instructors are encouraged to plan their use of forums, to keep the discussions focused, and to promote sharing information via URLs, citations, and uploaded documents. Concerning System Design, students are able to post their ideas accompanied by flow diagrams, thereby presenting an illustrated argument. In addition, students included citations and URLs of other approaches to designing such systems, analysis of those models, and speculation of how those approaches could benefit or limit the system they were designing. Web-based, asynchronous discussion forums provide a valuable avenue for sharing information outside the classroom. Students and instructors can share their ideas, questions, and individual discoveries whenever they wish and wherever they have Internet access. Many of our instructors are using discussion forums in their classes. More important, students are requesting that instructors use them because the forums provide the students an advantage–a tool for learning. I have little more knowledge for it. Then I have searched on Google and got some information about it.
